theplanetd: Looking out at sunset in the African Savanna.
-------

Looking out at sunset in the African Savanna. ------- There is no place on earth that makes you realize the importance of reducing your use of plastics more than Africa. While we were just in Tanzania we saw first hand the overuse of plastics. And although they are trying to do their part they have quite a ways to go. One way we found we could help was to make sure we brought our reusable water bottle. We filled it up each morning and used our Steri-Pen to clean it. Then we had little plastic waste while we were on Safari. I was happy to see a few of our fellow travellers doing the same. As we come to the end of our 4 week pledge to reduce our plastic use we have found that everything we have done we have now worked it easily into our daily routines. Now it is your turn. Check out the Website and take a challenge of your own! -------

All hail the king of the Serengeti. ------ One of the things that I wanted to see in this trip was lions. Well let me tell you it did not disappoint. I have seen so many I lost count. One day we saw a total of 27 lions! That is crazy. What love about this shot was just the way he put his head into the wind and basically posed for us. The wildlife viewing here in Tanzania has been nothing short of incredible. ------- Sony A7RII Tamron 150-600 f5-6.3 LA-EA3 Adaptor F11 1/800 of a second --------

Outrunning the storm in the Serengeti Plains. ------- It was a perfect day. Lions, Leopards, Elephants and just about ever other kind of African wildlife you can think of. But as the day was nearing its end we looked behind us and saw this. A freak storm was racing towards us and we had to make haste and head back to the lodge. Regardless of a a few raindrops this was by far my favourite day on safari ever. Thanks 😊😊 -------- If you love our travel photography make sure to check out our friends at for more epic photos. -------

The princess of the Serengeti in Tanzania. ------ Just as we were finishing up our day we came across this lioness sitting on her rock. Our guide told us that she probably had cubs nearby as she cooed at them every once and a while. Such an amazing experience. I have to say I am really impressed with the amount of lions in this park. They seem to be everywhere. Stay tuned for more 😊😊 -------

Staring down a bull elephant in Tarangire National Park, Tanzania. ------- It was a tense moment as we watched this bull elephant eating and he made a sudden charge for the vehicle. Luckily it was a phantom charge and we stood our ground. But let me tell you, you really realize just how small you are when you see something this big close up in its natural habitat. Just one of the amazing moments we have had on our in Tanzania. -------

The amazing Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro from above. ............ If you want to full appreciate the beauty of Rio de Janeiro it is best to do it from a high vantage point. Seeing this stunning landscape from a helicopter was by far one of the most exciting things we did while in the city. The beaches are so massive this really gives you a good sense of that. We loved Rio and hope to return soon. ............

Following the path to paradise in The Maldives. ------- We had always wanted to visit this island paradise and when we were in Sri Lanka in 2016 we took advantage of how close it was and spent a week on 2 different resorts. The Maldives lived up to all of my expectations especially the Hakuraa Huraa. This shot was what the sunsets were like every night! -------- Camera: Sony A7RII Lens: 16-35mm F4 F/11 125 seconds --------
